There as been a spate of Armed Robberies in The Observatory area. Rob Gaylard (Secretary of ONW) has compiled a table relating the incidents. He has had discussions with Woodstock SAPS and notes their comments on the incidents.

Notes:
- Not necessarily the same gang: 3 or 4 black males is the standard configuration for armed robberies.
- Woodstock Police do not seem surprised by the incidence of armed robberies at this time. The attribute this to opportunity (the number of businesses in the area), to the lack of visible security, and to easy access to escape routes (the N2). Also the approach of the festive season.
- They recommend installation of working CCTV cameras, panic buttons, visible security, varying times of cash-in-transit deliveries, etc. However, they say criminals ‘are not frightened of cameras'.
