Bush Radio LogoA 37 year old man has been arrested for armed robbery and motor vehicle theft.

This follows after a woman was robbed of her vehicle by two armed men in Observatory last night.

Woodstock police say the woman had just parked her Red VW city golf when the men took her belongings and drove off with her car.

“The vehicle was later seen parked in Drake Street, Observatory and during police observation, we arrested a 37 year old male,” said spokesperson Sergeant Hilton Malila.

He says the second suspect is still at large.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or who knows the whereabouts of the suspect is requested to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Warren Smit at the Woodstock police,” Malila said.

The suspect will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s court on Friday on chargers of armed robbery and theft of motor vehicle.

Riding down Polo Road (13:10 Wed 29 Jul) past Donne Street an Observatory resident  noticed a tall black man peering over a wooden fence. Being alerted she parked her car at her home in Scott Road, collected a ONW 2-way radio and investigated the matter. Peering through the fence she saw the man at the parked vehicle inside the property and radioed the patrol coordinator for assistance.

Police Success LogoOn Monday, 27 July 2009 at about 15:00, we arrested a 22-year-old suspect in Station Road, Mowbray for a hijacking that he had allegedly been committed in Collingwood Road, Observatory on Sunday morning, 26 July 2009 at about 04:15.

The arrest follows after the police on routine patrol noticed a white Nissan Micra in Station Road, Mowbray. We tested the registration number of the vehicle which confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen during a hijacking in Observatory.

Bush RadioTwo male suspects have been arrested for theft of motor vehicle today.

The arrest follows after police members on routine patrols noticed a Silver Grey Hyundia vehicle on the corners of Moderdam Road and the N2 highway.

"We tested the registration number of the vehicle which confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen in Lytton Street, Observatory", said Segearnt Hilton Malila.

The two suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates, court tomorrow on a charge of Theft of motor vehicle.
