He chaired the Human Resources Committee where he made valuable contributions in employing the first staff and setting up HR procedures. He also set on several other committees.

Paul, a clinical psychologist, leadership lecturer and organisational consultant, moved to Obs eight years ago. Searching for a bigger house three years ago, he and his wife realised just how attached they had grown to the “cohesive vibe of the community”.
They found they couldn’t leave and simply moved to a bigger house in the same street. Paul says he got involved in the establishment of the OBSID because he became “tired of
hearing himself complain” and started collecting signatures for the OBSID. He was struck by the level of enthusiasm in the community to take charge of its own destiny. “To me that is the goal of OBSID, to restore Obs to her former beauty, making it a clean, safe and highly desirable place to stay, do business and visit,” he says. Paul spends the bulk of his spare time gardening, cooking, and exploring Cape Town with his young family – they have one-yearold son. He is also a member of the Obs Neighbourhood Watch.
